... all the way up!

After a quick 3 days search for our campervan, we finally bought a "Toyota Hiace" campervan at a Car Fair in Auckland and started our journey in the North Island.

First Stop Piha beach just 60 km from Auckland - testing Giulia's new surf board. The landscape at Piha and the unique black colour of the beach were just amazing…Not so amzing was the mosqiuto invasion we had on our first night. Well beginners mistake! - cooking outside with all windows and doors open. We literally spent one hour in our van hunting down all mosquitos and sandflies….

The North Island path started from the West Coast along the way to Port Albert - stopping by the lake Tahaora - driving and hiking through Kauri forest with massive trees in the Waipoua National Park.Further up north I saw the most breathtaking and my favourite view of New Zealand in Omapere towards Hokianga harbour. We were basically driving down a hill and ended up in a bay where you had an almost 360 degrees view of the ocean, sand dunes and green landscape.

There´´s no words that would do justice to the beauty of this view.

After that we drove up the 90 Mile beach, spent a couple of days surfing and finally ended up in Cape Reinga - the northernmost point in New Zealand. ..
