Andes - the beginning of high altidude
After being spoiled in Santiago by Vivian and the Indian Gang, our first stop was San Pedro de Atacama in Chile. Back on the road and to the backpacking life again!
Luckily we left our surfboards and a lot of other staff behind in Santiago, light backpacking - finally.
We decided to stay in San Pedro (2500m) for 2 days to acclimatise our for the next adventures in Bolivia and Peru. Well, I know, that´s a bit short, but I always thought I'm a mountain boy, hahaha.
San Pedro is a little touristy town in the northern part of Chile. We were lucky as main season was over and only 20% - 25% of tourists were in the town. The village is cute, many little streets with clay houses. From the outside they look quite badly made, but as soon you step inside there are shops, restaurants, bars and spas which are very nicely designed.
We had already booked a 3 days and 2 nights Salar de Uyuni Tour but there were so many things to do in San Pedro de Atacama so we decided to post pone the trip by a couple of days and we started off by renting some bikes to discover the famous Valle de la Luna.
