TITIKAKA LAKE - Copacabana & Isla de Sol
TITIKAKA HOTEL - when i was little boy my parents gave me a game as a present called "Hotel". The aim of the game is similar to Monopoly, own as many hotels and make the most money.
My favourite hotel in that game was called Titikaka Hotel. It was the 2nd or 3rd best hotel, on a big lake and was made out of reed. I always thought that the hotel is somewhere in Africa, cause of the earth coloured design and the reed houses.
Well as soon as i heard that we are planning to go to Titikaka Lake - a coin dropped and I was super exicted to see my "beloved African Hotel".
The Titikaka lake is on 3812 m altidude and it is approximately 15 times bigger than the lake of Constance. It lays between Bolivia and Peru and so it was our last stop before heading to Peru.
Unfortunately it seemed that we took the La Paz weather with us to Copacabana. The first day was cold and rainy, but after that we just had sunny weather. In Copacabana we stayed in a cute hotel with a nice view to the Bay. From the bay we took a boat, probably the slowest boat we both had in our lives to the Isla de Sol. The hike on the island was just amazing; due to the altidude you really could feel when you just had to walk up a 50 meters hill, but the landscape and the vibe on that island was just amazing. Well oh before I forget ....in Copacabana I finally saw the inspiration of my Titikaka Hotel on a picture at a travel agency. It is actually from the floating islands in Puno/Peru and that is next to be seen ;-)
